BBC One has green lit a new three-episode miniseries of Jonathan Creek, show star Alan Davies has revealed.
Davies announced the commissioning on Twitter today, revealing that filming would begin in the autumn.
The fourth series of Jonathan Creek ended in 2004. Since then there have been two specials, 'The Grinning Man' in 2009 and 'The Judas Tree' in 2010.
A new 90-minute special, 'The Clue of the Savant's Thumb', will air this Easter. Rik Mayall, Sarah Alexander, Joanna Lumley and Nigel Planer will all star in the episode.
It is not known yet whether Sheridan Smith will return in the new miniseries as sidekick Joey Ross.
Speaking about the future of the detective series earlier this year, Davies told Digital Spy: "I don't know about more episodes, but [creator] David Renwick's got a twinkle in his eye and I think he's enjoying getting back to it. While BBC One's keen on it, maybe we'll do more."
Jonathan Creek is written by David Renwick.
