Monday night ratings: 'Terra Nova' almost hits 1m on Sky1

Terra Nova continued to prove popular for Sky1 on Monday evening, while the evergreen Doc Martin helped ITV1 dominate primetime, according to overnight data.

Terra Nova, the Steven Spielberg-produced series about an ordinary family who attempt to build a new human civilisation in prehistoric Earth, entertained 979k (4%) on Sky1 in the 8pm hour, roughly the same as its debut episode last week.

Doc Martin appealed to a healthy 8.54m (34.8%) on ITV1 in the 9pm hour and 260k (1.5%) on +1, easily outperforming Motorway Cops's 3.17m (13%) on BBC One.

Fake Britain had 3.86m (17.3%) on BBC One from 7.30pm and Little England took 3.15m (13%) on ITV1 from 8pm. Panorama mustered 2.39m (9.8%) on BBC One from 8.30pm. A Question Sport fetched 2.25m (15.7%) from 10.45pm, while ITV1's Exposure: Heart Hospital was seen by 1.25m (10.4%) on ITV1.

Dispatches averaged 1.18m (4.8%) for Channel 4 from 8pm, and Embarrassing Bodies educated 1.79m (7.3%) in the 9pm slot and 442k (2.5%) on Channel 4+1. Rude Tube amused 1.17m (6.6%) from 10pm and 261k (2.9%) on timshift.

A History of Ancient Britain enthralled 1.46m (6.7%) on BBC Two in the 7pm hour. University Challenge and Home Cooking Made Easy captivated 2.94m (12%) and 2.25m (9.3%) respectively in the 8pm hour. Twincredibles delighted 1.48m (6%) from 9pm and Never Mind The Buzzcocks amused 1.49m (7.6%) from 10pm.

Celebrity Wish List captivated 179k (0.8%) from 7.30pm, and The Gadget Show switched on 1.02m (4.2%) in the 8pm slot. The new series of The Hotel Inspector booked in 1.05m (4.3%) from 9pm. Big Brother attracted 1.39m (7.9%) in the 10pm hour, before Big Brother's Bit On The Side entertained 588k (6.5%) from 11pm.

Overall, ITV1 dominated primetime with 27.4% (+1: 0.6%) against BBC One's 18.1%. BBC Two scooped third with 7.5%, followed by Channel 4's 5.3% (+1: 0.9%) and Channel 5's 4.1%.

Elsewhere, Hell's Kitchen USA continued with 503k (2.1%) on ITV2 from 9pm and 130k (0.7%) on +1. Victoria Coren's Only Connect quizzed 632k (2.6%) on BBC Four from 8.30pm.
