Fern Britton's show dropped by Channel 4

Channel 4 has confirmed that teatime chatshow Fern will not be returning.



The programme, hosted by Fern Britton, began a trial run in March.

Reports later suggested that it would not be returning because it picked up relatively low ratings.

Speaking at the Channel 4 Annual Report, the broadcaster's chief creative officer Jay Hunt confirmed that the show will not be coming back "in the current form".

However, Hunt explained that Channel 4 is keen to work with Britton again in the future and revealed that other formats are currently being discussed.

In March, Britton claimed that daytime programming is "underestimated".
