The X Factor slumps to its lowest ever final on Saturday

The X Factor recorded its lowest-ever ratings for a final last night (December 12), according to overnight figures.

The ITV singing competition slumped to below 6 million viewers in its 8pm timeslot, as only 5.72 million (26.5%) saw the top three perform. A further 224k (1.2%) caught the action on +1.

It is down more than 2 million down compared to the Saturday final aired in 2014 (8.14 million). The first series back in 2004 - won by Steve Brookstein - logged 8.1 million.

On BBC One, Strictly Come Dancing continued with 9.67 million (43.1%) from 6.50pm.

The latest Casualty was enjoyed by 4.32 million (20%), and Match of the Day averaged 2.97 million (20.9%).

ITV's The Jonathan Ross Show appealed to 2.44 million (15%).

On BBC Two, a Dad's Army repeat entertained 2 million (9.3%) before QI XL interested 1.05 million (5%).
