Black Work debuts with 5.8 million viewers on Sunday night

Sheridan Smith's Black Work debuted to strong ratings on Sunday (June 21), according to overnight figures.

The first episode of the police drama brought in 5.81m (27.1%) at 9pm, while another 401,700 (2.6%) tuned in on ITV+1 an hour later.

Earlier in the evening, Catchphrase entertained 2.75m (15.4%) at 7.15pm, while Surprise Surprise averaged 3.69m (18.7%) at 8pm.

On BBC One, Countryfile interested 5.39m (30.7%) at 7pm, before Antiques Roadshow gathered 5.11m (25.9%) at 8pm, and Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell gripped 1.59m (7.4%) at 9pm.

On BBC Two, Dara and Ed's Great Big Adventure was seen by 750k (3.8%) at 8pm, while BBC at War with Jonathan Dimbleby brought in 940k (4.4%) at 9pm.

Channel 4's Humans continued with 2.67m (12.4%) at 9pm (402k/2.6% on +1), losing 780,000 viewers who tuned into last Sunday's premiere.

Channel 5's Pets Make You Laugh Out Loud tickled 591k (3.0%) at 8pm (36k/0.2%), while Big Brother continued with 1.00m (4.7%) at 9pm (172k/1.1%).

BBC Three's coverage of the Women's World Cup was watched by 539k (2.9%) at 8.30pm, and Love Island continued with 438k (2.0%) on ITV2.

I can't say I was particularly impressed
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.
