Midsomer Murders tops Wednesday ratings with 4.8m

Midsomer Murders was the most-watched programme on Wednesday (January 28), according to overnight figures.

The ITV crime drama was watched by 4.79m (21.3%) between 8pm and 10pm (243k/1.3% on +1).

BBC One's Pets: Wild at Heart was the drama's closest competition, with 3.78m (17.5%) at 8pm. Churchill: The Nation's Farewell followed with 2.72m (11.7%) at 9pm.

On BBC Two, The Great British Sewing Bee entertained 1.47m (6.8%) at 8pm, while comedy Up The Women fell below one million viewers with 870k (4.9%) at 10pm.

Damian Lewis's period drama Wolf Hall lost one million viewers for its second episode, which averaged 2.89m (12.5%) at 9pm.

Over on Channel 4, Restoration Man interested 1.36m (6.3%) at 8pm (194k/0.8%), while 24 Hours in A&E brought in 1.78m (7.7%) at 9pm (337k/2.1%).

Bodyshockers fascinated 1.04m (6.6%) at 10pm (191k/2.3%).

Channel 5's Celebrity Big Brother continued with 2.48m (10.7%) at 9pm (418k/2.6%), followed by Age Gap Love with 1.17m (7.3%) at 10pm (123k/1.4%).
