The Voice UK rises to 8.4 million viewers on Saturday night

The Voice UK rose to nearly 8.5 million viewers on BBC One last night (January 17), according to overnight figures.

The singing competition attracted 8.46m (38.5%) from 7pm, an increase of more than 400k compared to last week's series premiere.

The National Lottery: Win Your Wish List followed with 4.92m (23%), before Casualty was watched by 5.04m (23.6%).

BBC Two's snooker coverage of The Masters averaged 1.31m (6%) across the night.

On ITV, Harry Hill's Stars in Their Eyes and Take Me Out entertained 2.28m (10.5%) and 3.07m (14.1%) respectively. A screening of Bridget Jones's Diary drew 1.3m (6.9%) from 9.20pm afterwards.

Channel 4 aired Ray Winstone movie The Sweeney from 9pm, averaging 1.52m (7.8%).

On Channel 5, a CSI repeat appealed to 569k (2.6%) from 8pm, before the latest Celebrity Big Brother instalment earned 2.24m (10.3%).

The multichannels were topped by ITV3's Midsomer Murders, which garnered 1.24m (5.7%) from 8pm.
