Strictly Come Dancing topped primetime television last night (November 1), according to overnight figures.
The BBC One dancing competition earned 9.79m (44.1%) from 6.30pm, beating ITV's The X Factor, which had 7.22m (31.7%) from 8pm (+1: 218k/1.1%).
After Strictly, 5.27m tuned in for Doctor Who for the unveiling of Missy's true identity. Casualty treated 4.21m (18.5%) from 9pm.
On BBC Two, Restoring England's Heritage managed 648k (3%) from 7pm.
A repeat of Dad's Army was watched by 1.46m (6.2%) from 8.30pm, with Frankenstein and the Vampyre - A Dark and Stormy Night taking 652k (2.9%) afterwards.
ITV's The Chase continued with 3.33m (15.2%) in the 7pm hour (+1: 219k/0.9%), and The Jonathan Ross Show was seen by 2.27m (14.1%) from 10.15pm.
On Channel 4, Walking Through History attracted 906k (3.8%) from 8pm. It was followed by Bruce Willis film Red, which aired to 1.31m (6.5%).
Channel 5 showed repeats of The Missing Evidence (395k/1.8%), World War II in Colour (414k/1.8%) and Gotham (200k/0.9%).
On the multichannels, a Sherlock repeat appealed to 703k (3.3%) on BBC Three from 9pm. ITV2's The Xtra Factor was watched by 307k (1.9%) from 10.15pm.
