Six Nations Rugby Union tops Friday ratings with 4.57m

Live Six Nations Rugby Union was Friday's (February 21) highest-rated show outside of soaps.

An average of 4.57 million viewers (20.8%) tuned in to watch Wales take on France at 7.55pm on BBC One. The match peaked with 4.83 million viewers during the second half.

The rugby narrowly outperformed ITV's Student Nurses: Bedpans and Bandages, which was seen by 4.32 million (20.3%) at 8pm.

Brand new comedy/drama Edge of Heaven was ITV's second highest-rated show of the night, securing 2.56m (11.7%) viewers from 9.

Back on BBC One, The Graham Norton Show, which featured guests such as Dominic Cooper and Lily Allen, entertained 3.97 million (28.8%) at 10.35pm.

Approximately 3.82m (18.5%) tuned in to watch The One Show at 7pm, while an average audience of 3.68m (16.8%) stuck around to watch Room 101 immediately after.

BBC Two's evening kicked off with Winter Olympics: Today at the Games at 7pm. Approximately 1.88 million (8.8%) watched highlights of Team GB picking up a silver medal in the men's curling final.

It was followed by 1.95m (9.1%) for Mastermind at 8pm, while An Island Parish was seen by 1.72m (7.5%) at 8.30pm.

8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown was Channel 4's highest-rated show of the evening, picking up 1.83 million (8.4%) at 9pm. Viewing figures dropped to 1.03 million (5.09%) for The Last Leg at 10pm.

After a dip in viewers for last week's episode, Ben Fogle: New Lives in the Wild was seen by 1.47m (6.8%) at 9pm on Channel 5. Earlier in the evening, Ice Road truckers scored ratings of 1.05 million (4.7%) at 8pm.

BBC Three movie Meet the Fockers was among the highest-rated multichannel programmes. The movie sequel was seen by 651k (3.3%) at 9pm.
