Death Comes to Pemberley has continued BBC One's primetime ratings success, drawing an audience of 4.4m on Friday (December 27).
The PD James adaptation, which serves as a follow-up to Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, lost 1.2m viewers from Boxing Day's audience, showing 45 minutes later at 9pm.
However, its 20.1% share still comfortably beat ITV's sitcom Vicious, which pulled in 3.1m (13.9%) in the same slot (+1: 168.3k).
Earlier on BBC One, 3.82m tuned in for Miranda (16.2%), while a repeat of Christmas Day's Mrs Brown's Boys - which topped the December 25 ratings - attracted 2.94m at 10.30pm.
ITV's audience dropped significantly for rom-com Bridget Jones's Diary, which managed an audience of 1.47m (7.8%) at 9.30pm. A further 159.9k watched an hour later on ITV +1.
BBC Two's 7.30pm edition of University Challenge provided the channel's biggest ratings of the evening, with 1.68m watching (7.1%).
Idris Elba: King of Speed secured 1.31m viewers (5.6%) immediately after at 8pm. Adventurer Ben Fogle and Olympian James Cracknell attracted an audience of 1.37m (6.2%) at 9pm for Ben and James Versus the Arabian Desert. Tom Hanks's survival epic Castaway boosted figures to 1.64m (11.1%) from 10pm.
Gordon Ramsay's Home Cooking went out on Channel 4 at 7.15pm to 480k (+1: 46k). Celebrity Come Dine With Me doubled the audience at 8pm, as reality TV alumni Hugo Taylor, Danniella Westbrook, Louie Spence and Sinitta's efforts pulled in 980k viewers (+1: 231.3k).
British comedy The Inbetweeners Movie performed well for the channel, drawing a 9.5% audience share - 1.94m viewers - at 9pm (+1: 344k).
A double of classic slapstick Mr Bean proved a hit on Channel 5 at 9pm, with 842.9k watching Rowan Atkinson's bumbling character (+1: 21.4k). The second episode boosted ratings to 1.01m (+1: 26.2k). Tommy Cooper's Christmas saw 851.2k tune in at 10pm (+1: 47.4k).
BBC Four dominated the multichannel ratings with an evening dedicated to Swedish popstars ABBA.
The Joy of Abba achieved an impressive 919.5k audience (4.2%) at 9pm, with archive performances ABBA at the BBC drawing in 870.6k (4.7%) an hour later.
Agnetha: ABBA and After saw 755k (5.9%) tune in at 11pm.
