Ratings: 'The Politician's Husband' seen by 2.5 million

The Politician's Husband debuted with decent ratings for BBC Two on Thursday evening (April 25), overnight data has revealed.

David Tennant and Emily Watson's new drama opened with 2.49 million viewers (11.2%) at 9pm.

Earlier, James May's Man Lab ended with 1.19m (5.5%) at 8pm, while new comedy series Watson & Oliver was seen by 903,000 (2.9%) at 10pm.

BBC One's MasterChef climbed as the semi-finals continued to 5.21m (24.0%) at 8pm. Great Bear Stakeout took in 3.37m (15.1%) at 9pm, while Question Time attracted 2.62m (22.2%) at 10.45pm.

ITV's coverage of Chelsea's Europa League win over Basle scored 3.76m (17.4%) at 7.45pm.

On Channel 4, Secret Eaters grabbed 1.32m (6.1%) at 8pm, with 255k (1.1%) tuning in on +1. Sex Clinic secured 924k (5.7%) at 10pm.

Channel 5's Cowboy Builders was seen by 1.15m (5.3%) at 8pm, followed by Trauma Doctors with 1.19m (5.0%) at 9pm.

Russell Howard's Good News returned to BBC Three with 780k (4.3%) at 10pm. Conjoined-twins documentary Joined for Life was viewed by 497k (2.2%) at 9pm.

On E4, The Big Bang Theory amused 1.94m (5.6%) at 8pm (485k/2.2% on +1), while How I Met Your Mother attracted 632k (2.8%) at 8.30pm (327k/1.5%).

ITV2's Peter Andre: My Life dipped to 757k (3.4%) at 9pm, while Celebrity Juice tickled 1.28m (7.5%) at 10pm.
