The Geordie duo's revived ITV format commanded an average of 6.69 million - a 29.4% share - from 7pm until 8.15pm, adding 269,000 on +1.

While Saturday Night Takeaway was once again the most-watched primetime show and rose 200k week-on-week, the programme was not the best-rated broadcast of the day.

BBC One's Six Nations finale, which saw Wales win for the second year over England, pulled in 7.52m (38.5%) between 4.30pm and 7pm - peaking with nearly 10m.

After the rugby, the corporation's flagship channel recorded 4.48m (19.7%) for Pointless, 4.46m (19.2%) for In It to Win It, 4.85m (21%) for Casualty and a commendable 4.88m (22.9%) for a repeat of Mrs Brown's Boys.

Meanwhile on ITV, The Cube entertained 3.78m (16.3%) after Takeaway with a further 286k on timeshift, and The Jonathan Ross Show logged 2.63m (12.3%) from 9.30pm (+1: 265k).

The Six Nations continued on BBC Two for the last match, between Italy and Ireland, with 2.16m (9.4%), while Churchill and the Fascist Plot interested 1.02m (4.5%) on Channel 4 (+1: 162k), and US drama NCIS mustered 1m (4.3%) for Channel 5.

Overall, BBC One led primetime with 21.2%, beating ITV's 19.4% (+1: 1.1%), BBC Two's 7.3%, 5's 4.2% and Channel 4's 4% (+1: 0.6%).

Foyle's War topped the multichannel ratings with a hefty 1.07m (5.2%) between 9pm and 11pm, but ITV3 was unable to foil Channel 5 for a second week, posting a primetime share of 4.1%.
