Tuesday ratings: 'Prisoners' Wives' climbs to 5m on BBC One

Last night's instalment of Prisoners' Wives rose above 5 million viewers on BBC One, according to overnight data.

The drama series took a decent 5.02m (21.6%), building on last week's audience, to help the channel dominate primetime on Tuesday night.

ITV1's The Exit List continued to struggle from 8pm with 1.71m (7.4%), beaten by BBC Two's Alex Polizzi: The Fixer on 2.56m (11.1%).

The Biggest Loser followed The Exit List, attracting 2.4m (10.4%) and 181k (1.1%) on timeshift.

Meanwhile, How to Grow a Planet drew 1.73m (7.4%) on BBC Two.

Channel 4's Gok's Teens: The Naked Truth was watched by 1.73m (7.5%) from 8pm (+1: 231k/1%) and Katie: The Science of Seeing Again followed with 1.55m (6.7%) in the 9pm hour (+1: 178k/1%).

Shameless had 1.45m (8.5%) later, with a further 217k (2.4%) on +1.

Body of Proof starring Dana Delany continued strongly with 1.43m (6.2%) on Channel 5. 8pm's Cowboy Builders also impressed with 1.45m (6.3%).

Overall, BBC One convincingly won primetime with 25.2% as ITV1 could only take 12.5% (+1: 0.5%). BBC Two came third with 8%, ahead of Channel 4's 6.4% (0.8%) and Channel 5's 4.7%.

On the multichannels, MTV's Geordie Shore improved from last week, averaging 291k (1.7%) from 10pm.
