What a reflection on society that is! :fuming:
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.

Cat can't get his advent calendar from the Post Office because he doesn't have ID

Image

Ted the cat can't get his advent calendar from the Post Office because he has no ID.

His owner Brittany Maher-Kirk missed the delivery when a postman tried to deliver the parcel.

Her mother sent it as a joke, addressing the gift to her tabby tomcat, Ted Maher-Kirk Lindsay - who we can only presume was too busy sleeping to open the door to the postman.

And when Brittany went to collect it from Royal Mail, they would not give her the parcel because it is not addressed to her.

But clearly, as he is a cat, Ted does not have ID.

Brittany wrote on Facebook: "So my mum posted the cat an advent calendar. Unfortunately, we missed the delivery and the post office won't give it me as the cat does not have ID.

"I've got to ring up the Post Office Head Office and explain that my mother has sent the cat an advent calendar, addressed to the cat, and he can't pop in to pick it up himself or lend me his ID to do it for him."

Strict rules at the Post Office mean proof of identification is required to pick up deliveries.

Elderly cats who needed their ears amputating looking for the 'purrr-fect' home

Image

A cat shelter is looking for the ‘purrr-fect’ home for two elderly cats who need a bit of extra TLC after having half of their ears removed.

Coventry Cat Group hopes to rehome two elderly, white cats, nicknamed ‘The Polars’, after their owner passed away.

According to the shelter’s trustees, Billy and Bobby, who are 14 and 16 years old, have been overlooked by potential owners who prefer to adopt kittens.

Others have overlooked the cats after they had the tips of their ears removed to stop the spread of cancer.

Brenda Cartwright, a trustee of the charity, said: “At present we have two beautiful white cats with a very sad story.

“They are elderly and were on the point of being put to sleep, due to the death of their owner, when we rescued them.

“Since they came to us they have had to have the tips of their ears removed because of cancer.

“They are now fine and ready to be re-homed.”

Brenda explained vets, who removed the cancerous growths, called the group as they didn’t want to put healthy cats down.

“They’re getting overlooked because they are older,” she said, “but they are so lovely.

“They really are lovely cats and they deserve a very special home.

“They need calm surroundings and relaxation. We want them to go to a genuine cat love, maybe an older person.”

The trustee went on to explain that it’s not just ‘The Polars’ who need rehoming, but a lot of other cats and kittens.

She said: “We’re looking to rehome all of the cats at the moment. The charity is now bordering on overcrowded due to a couple of emergencies.

“They cost a fortune to feed so we need donations of food.”

Anyone looking to rehome The Polars, or another one of the group’s cats, should contact Coventry Cat Group by clicking here.

Image

More than 150 cats were ‘feline’ fine as they did their owners proud at the All Breed International Cat Show in Ryton.

People from all over the UK and Europe took their marvellous moggies to the two-day show hosted by The Viking Cat Club at Sports Connexion and kept the judges busy as their cast their expert eyes and hands over a number of different breeds, including Siberians, Maine Coons, Norwegian Forest Cats, Exotics, Sacred Birmans, British Shorthairs, Cornish Rex, Burmese and Siamese.

Exhibitors even travelled from as far afield as Sweden, Belgium and Germany to compete for the coveted award of Best in Show.

Winning cats are able to qualify for the Annual Felis Britannica Winners Show and also the Annual FIFe World Show, which this year will be held in Vienna, Austria, on the last weekend of October.

Many exhibitors from the UK will be making the trip over to Austria for the chance to gain the title of World Winner.

Every advert in a London Underground station has been replaced with cat photos

Image

Dream big – and you could raise enough money to redecorate an entire tube station with photos of cats.

An inspirational group of cat lovers have done exactly that and we salute them, raising a paw.

The Citizens Advertising Takeover Service (CATS, if you didn’t get that) started a crowdfunding campaign to raise enough money to replace the standard adverts for new protein shakes and mortgage apps with pictures of, well, cats.

We reported on it back in the wishing and hoping stage, and now the plan has blossomed into the beautiful thing it is today, with more than 60 adverts displaying cute kittens and cats from every angle at Clapham Common tube station.

Or should we say CAT-ham Common.

Image

At first, the plan was just to put up pretty pictures of cats.

But after thinking things through CATS decided to display photos of animals in need of loving homes – so many of the pictures you can see are cats from Battersea Dogs and Cats Home or Cats Protection, the UK’s largest feline welfare charity.

Image

‘This isn’t a clever marketing stunt for a pet food brand, or a guerrilla campaign for a new TV series,’ organiser James Turner said in a blog post explaining it all.

‘The people behind it are volunteers who raised the money on Kickstarter. We want to inspire people to think differently about the world and realise they have the power to change it.’

Can you find a home for cross-eyed Coventry shop cat Bob in time for Christmas?

Image

This cute cross eyed abandoned cat would love to have a home of his own in time for Christmas.

Black and white puss Bob was abandoned by his owners and now lives in a Radford newsagent.

But as Christmas approaches he would love to swap his chair in the stockroom and office behind the shop for a sofa in a family home.

A year ago he was living with his owners near McColl’s newsagent and general store in Jubilee Crescent. But when his owners moved they left him behind and since then he’s been fed and looked after by the shop staff.

hey tried local animal charities only to be told they had no space for another abandoned cat.

Manager Sarah Meadows said: “I can’t have him myself because I’m out all day and it wouldn’t be fair. It would be so nice if he could have a home for Christmas.”

Coventry Telegraph sales development executive Thelma Romaniuk, who met Bob while promoting the paper in the shop, said: “He’s really friendly and his cross eyes make him look so cute.

“I don’t know how old he is but I would guess about four or five.

“If we could find him a home by Christmas it would be such a nice story.

“His name is Bob but I always call him Clarence after Clarence the Cross Eyed Lion from the children’s programme.”

Anybody who would like to give Bob a home should visit the shop to meet him.

He needs an owner who can not just offer him a sofa but make sure he is neutered, gets regular medication to prevent fleas and worms and has annual vaccinations against killer disease cat flu.

He’s used to being able to go outside so he needs somewhere with a garden or open space.
