Paddington topples The Hunger Games at the UK box office

Paddington has topped the UK box office in its first week of release.



The acclaimed live action adventure for Michael Bond's beloved bear has taken £5,125,519 since its nationwide release on Friday (November 28).

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay slips to second place with a strong second-week taking, having now made over £21m since its November 21 release.

The week's other major new release Horrible Bosses 2 debuts at fourth place with a weekend total of £1,257,808, lagging behind Benedict Cumberbatch-led biopic The Imitation Game.

Art documentary Hockney debuted in eighth place with £161,163.

The re-release of Disney's smash hit Frozen, a year on from its original debut, pulled in an impressive £177,859 in seventh place.
