'Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2' tops UK box office

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 has topped the UK box office on its first weekend on release.



The animated sequel earned £3.6 million from its 510 locations to secure first place ahead of Captain Phillips and new release Bad Grandpa.

The Cloudy sequel's opening total easily outpaces that of its predecessor, which pulled in £1.58 million in September 2009.

Last week's number one movie Turbo slips down to fourth spot, while Ender's Game completes the top five with £1.16 million.

Elsewhere, James Corden's Paul Potts biopic One Chance lands in sixth place with £717,857.
