The East Winds: Third Windows Film Festival is the first of its kind outside of London.

It will be held at Coventry University and at the Warwick Arts Centre, and will celebrate the population of international students in the city.

Since the Coventry University East Asian Film Society was founded in 2008, interest has grown.

Spencer Murphy, who established the society and who co-founded the film festival, said: "When I set up the society, my intention was to screen a film every week.

"A majority of the films we put on were unreleased and unavailable in this country and I was staggered by the both the volume and the positive nature of the responses to the screenings from the students. This led to taking the idea of showing films from east Asia to a wider audience and now the festival has evolved."

Events include question and answer sessions with film directors from Eastern Asia and they will also be introducing their own films. One of the highlights will include the UK premiere of the Chinese film, The Message. Its director will also be in attendance. The festival will also be screening Tetsuya Nakashima's Confessions.
