'Nanny McPhee' hits UK box office top spot

Nanny McPhee And The Big Bang has knocked Alice In Wonderland from the top of the UK box office.

Emma Thompson's fantasy sequel narrowly pips Johnny Depp and Tim Burton's latest collaboration to the chart summit on its debut weekend on release. Big Bang's $2.6 million opening haul is almost identical to its 2005 predecessor.

Despite Sandra Bullock's withdrawal from UK promotion rounds, her Oscar-winning drama The Blind Side bows at number three with $1.3 million. Shutter Island and The Bounty Hunter are close behind at four and five respectively.

Gang drama Shank is the only other new release to chart, entering at number nine.
