EastEnders topped Thursday's ratings (January 14) as Phil and Sharon's marriage hit the rocks, overnight figures show.
6.84m (32.7%) tuned in at 7.30pm on BBC One as months of issues between the couple came to a head following Phil's confession that he'd lied to Sharon about the Christmas car crash. BBC Three's repeat added 284k (1.6%) at 10pm.
Emmerdale attracted 6.53m (32.4%) at 7pm on ITV and 143k (0.7%) on +1 as Paddy and Rhona's loved ones gave reviews to the social worker, while 6.3m (29.7%) returned at 8pm and 142k (0.6%) on +1 as Aaron decided to sabotage their adoption plans.
Hollyoaks continued with 917k (4.7%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Holly had to face the music following her hotel room antics with Robbie (+1: 51k / 0.2%), while E4's first look topped the day's multichannel figures with 547k (2.7%) at 7pm (+1: 74k / 0.3%).
Neighbours grabbed 727k (9.4%) at 1.45pm and 575k (3.6%) at 5.30pm on Channel 5 as Paul hit rock bottom when Amy rejected him again.
Home and Away entertained 255k (3.4%) at 1.15pm and 543k (3.0%) at 6pm on Channel 5, while 5*'s first look had 423k (2.2%) at 6.30pm.
