7.2m tune in for Phil's big confession on EastEnders

EastEnders stayed above the 7 million mark in Tuesday night's ratings (January 12), overnight figures show.


The Walford soap was the most-watched programme of the day, claiming 7.18m (33.2%) at 7.30pm on BBC One as Phil finally told Sharon that he was the one who crashed the car on Christmas Day. BBC Three's repeat added 418k (2.4%) at 10pm.

Emmerdale brought in 6.25m (30.6%) at 7pm on ITV and 208k (1.0%) on +1 as Moira told Cain about Pete making a move on her.

Holby City attracted 4.83m (22.3%) at 8pm on BBC One as Guy struggled with his inner demons.

Hollyoaks interested 930k (4.8%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Cindy decided to start chasing Mac's money (+1: 62k / 0.3%), while E4's first look followed with 431k (2.1%) at 7pm (+1: 67k / 0.3%).

Neighbours grabbed 756k (9.7%) at 1.45pm and 734k (4.7%) at 5.30pm on Channel 5 as Paige was drawn back in by Michelle.

Home and Away entertained 283k (3.7%) at 1.15pm and 624k (3.5%) at 6pm on Channel 5, while 5*'s first look had 404k (2.1%) at 6.30pm.
