EastEnders brings in 7.3m with Charlie Slater's death

EastEnders topped Thursday's ratings (January 7) with Charlie Slater's emotional death scenes, overnight figures show.

The Walford soap pulled in 7.3m (33.8%) at 7.30pm on BBC One as Kat and her family were left devastated by the sudden loss of Charlie, who had suffered a heart attack.

6.24m (27.1%) returned to EastEnders at 8.30pm as an extra episode saw Stacey's psychosis intensify following Charlie's passing, which led her up to the roof of the Queen Vic.

BBC Three's double bill of EastEnders repeat screenings had 469k (2.6%) at 10pm and 530k (3.8%) at 10.30pm.

Emmerdale also did well, attracting 6.55m (31.7%) at 7pm on ITV and 82k (0.4%) on +1 as Vanessa told Adam the devastating news that he isn't Johnny's father. 6.51m (29.9%) returned at 8pm and 151k (0.7%) on +1 as the news spread when Adam reacted very badly.

Hollyoaks continued with 909k (4.6%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as the City Wall became a permanent resting place for Patrick's body (+1: 83k / 0.4%), while E4's first look topped the multichannels with 667k (3.2%) at 7pm and 159k (0.7%) on +1.

Elsewhere, Neighbours entertained 727k (9.4%) at 1.45pm and 705k (4.5%) at 5.30pm on Channel 5 as Sonya was left stunned by Belinda's claims about Steph and Toadie.
