Coronation Street's Connor family dramas kept the soap going strong in the ratings on Wednesday evening (January 6), overnight figures show.Corrie was easily the most-watched programme of the day, bringing in 7.51m (34.2%) at 7.30pm on ITV and 286k (1.2%) on +1 as Johnny faced a backlash - and a punch from Aidan - following the revelation that he is Carla's father.
Emmerdale attracted 6.7m (32.5%) at 7pm on ITV and 119k (0.5%) on +1 as Vanessa discovered that Adam isn't the father of baby Johnny.
EastEnders held onto 6.31m (26.6%) at 8pm on BBC One as a one-off midweek episode saw Charlie suffer a sudden health scare. BBC Three's repeat added 522k (2.9%) at 10pm.
Hollyoaks interested 883k (4.5%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 with the dark aftermath of Patrick's demise (+1: 87k / 0.4%), while E4's first look followed with 605k (2.9%) at 7pm and 101k (0.4%) on +1.
Neighbours continued to rise at lunchtime, claiming an impressive 932k (11.9%) at 1.45pm on Channel 5 as Mark struggled after Paige's close call. 607k (3.7%) caught the teatime screening at 5.30pm.
