Kat Moon's long-lost son brings in 7.2m for EastEnders

EastEnders stayed strong in the ratings on Tuesday (January 5) with more drama for the Slater family, overnight figures show.

The Walford soap was the most-watched programme of the day, bringing in 7.2m (33.9%) at 7.30pm on BBC One as Kat finally heard the truth about her long-lost son. BBC Three's repeat added 347k (1.9%) at 10pm.

Emmerdale attracted 6.26m (30.6%) at 7pm on ITV and 219k (1.0%) on +1 as Cain caught Aaron self-harming.

Holby City continued with 4.78m (21.8%) at 8pm on BBC One as Arthur faced a tough challenge to prove himself.

Hollyoaks aired to 850k (4.3%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Patrick's final episode saw him killed by Nico (+1: 54k / 0.3%), while E4's first look followed with 648k (3.2%) at 7pm and 147k (0.7%) on +1.

Elsewhere, Neighbours rose to 896k (11.3%) at 1.45pm and 778k (4.8%) at 5.30pm on Channel 5 as Paige's kidnap ordeal reached a shocking conclusion.
