Coronation Street brings in 6.9m with Sarah accident fallout

Coronation Street topped Friday's soap ratings (December 4) with the fallout from Sarah Platt's accident, overnight figures show.

6.93m (35.4%) tuned in at 7.30pm on ITV and 181k (0.9%) on +1 as Kylie accused David of deliberately hurting Sarah. 6.35m (30.5%) returned at 8.30pm and 148k (0.7%) on +1 to see Nick and Carla make their engagement official.

EastEnders attracted 5.6m (27.7%) at 8pm on BBC One as Bobby pushed Jane down the stairs at home. BBC Three's repeat added 203k (1.2%) at 10pm.

Emmerdale interested 5.56m (29.8%) at 7pm on ITV and 124k (0.6%) on +1 as Megan's baby secret came under further threat.

Neighbours' lunchtime screening was Channel 5's top-rated show of the whole day, gripping 820k (12.0%) at 1.45pm as Steph uncovered Paul's deception after a shock car crash. 628k (4.1%) saw the teatime repeat at 5.30pm.

Hollyoaks entertained 742k (4.1%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as the sinister events surrounding Holly and Jason escalated (+1: 22k / 0.1%), while E4's first look followed with 472k (2.5%) at 7pm (+1: 82k / 0.4%).

Doctors continued with 1.2m (17.6%) at 1.45pm on BBC One as Valerie broke down at The Mill.

Home and Away's final episode of the year aired to 279k (4.3%) at 1.15pm and 444k (2.5%) at 6pm on Channel 5. 5* did not air a first look screening at 6.30pm.
