Emmerdale wins Tuesday's battle of the soaps with 5.8m

Emmerdale topped the soap ratings on Tuesday (November 24) with its hour-long wedding special, overnight figures show.

5.79m (27.9%) tuned in from 7pm on ITV and 214k (1.0%) on +1 as Lawrence and Bernice defied the odds by tying the knot despite Bernice's infidelity.

EastEnders suffered a dip due to the latest soap scheduling clash, dropping to 4.6m (21.2%) at 7.30pm on BBC One as Vincent was revealed to work for the police in a shock storyline twist.

During the 30-minute clash period itself from 7.30pm, Emmerdale had 5.59m and a 25.8% share. BBC Three's EastEnders repeat added 590k (3.3%) at 10pm.

After EastEnders, Holby City attracted 4.05m (18.7%) at 8pm on BBC One as Jac took no prisoners when she returned to work.

Hollyoaks continued with 843k (4.4%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Lindsey sneakily tried to cast doubt on Cindy's murder theories (+1: 13k / 0.1%). E4's first look followed with 542k (2.7%) at 7pm and 117k (0.6%) on +1.

Neighbours saw another rise at lunchtime, bringing in 893k (12.5%) at 1.45pm on Channel 5 as Vanessa returned and had a showdown with Steph. 648k (4.1%) saw the teatime screening at 5.30pm.

Doctors aired to 1.52m (21.5%) at 1.45pm on BBC One as Mrs Tembe was shocked to learn about a rogue trader who'd targeted an elderly widow.

Home and Away mustered 296k (4.2%) at 1.15pm and 528k (3.0%) at 6pm on Channel 5, while 5*'s first look had 327k (1.7%) at 6.30pm.
