Coronation Street brings in 7.5m viewers on Monday night

Coronation Street topped Monday's soap ratings (November 23) as Leanne and Simon's storyline came to a head, overnight figures show.

7.48m (33.5%) watched at 7.30pm on ITV and 168k (0.7%) on +1 as Simon turned his violent attentions towards Amy. 7.44m (32.0%) returned at 8.30pm and 157k (0.7%) on +1 to see Leanne tell the Barlows that Simon has been hitting her too.

Emmerdale took second spot, bringing in 6.2m (30.1%) at 7pm on ITV and 139k (0.6%) on +1 as Bernice gave into temptation with Andy on the eve of her wedding.

EastEnders managed 6.05m (26.1%) at 8pm on BBC One as Ronnie was kidnapped by two men who posed as police officers. BBC Three's repeat secured 200k (1.1%) at 10pm.

Hollyoaks interested 903k (4.5%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Cindy was revealed as Alfie's mum in a shock twist (+1: 38k / 0.2%), while E4's first look bagged its best figure since the 20th anniversary week with 721k (3.5%) at 7pm and 102k (0.4%) on +1.

Doctors continued with 1.51m (22.0%) at 1.45pm on BBC One as Valerie went for a biopsy at the hospital.

Neighbours entertained 824k (12.0%) at 1.45pm and 667k (4.2%) at 5.30pm on Channel 5 as Ben and Piper decided to do a runner.

Home and Away claimed 287k (4.0%) at 1.15pm and 579k (3.1%) at 6pm on Channel 5, while 5*'s first look had 295k (1.5%) at 6.30pm.
