Coronation Street claims 6.5m as Alya confesses to Gary

Coronation Street topped Thursday's ratings (October 29) with Alya Nazir's big confession, overnight figures show.

The Weatherfield soap attracted 6.52m (30.8%) at 8pm on ITV and 175k (0.9%) on +1 as Alya shocked Gary by revealing that she had slept with another man. Corrie aired outside of its usual schedule as only one episode will be broadcast tonight (October 30).

Emmerdale continued to perform well, bringing in 6.01m (31.7%) at 7pm on ITV and 114k (0.5%) on +1 as an hour-long episode saw Nikhil Sharma return to the village.

EastEnders was dented by being moved out of its usual slot, dipping to 5.09m (23.6%) at 8.30pm on BBC One as Ben tried to stand up to Gavin. BBC Three's repeat added 414k (2.5%) at 10pm.

Hollyoaks rose back up to 850k (4.6%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Patrick met his formidable replacement Sally St Claire (+1: 24k / 0.1%). E4's first look followed with 545k (2.9%) at 7pm and 132k (0.6%) on +1.

Doctors interested 1.46m (19.7%) at 1.45pm on BBC One as Heston refused to work with Ruhma.

Neighbours continued to shine at lunchtime, airing to 786k (10.4%) at 1.45pm on Channel 5 as Tyler tried to sabotage Mark's relationship. 662k (4.5%) caught the teatime screening at 5.30pm.

Ed Sheeran's guest appearance on Home and Away was enjoyed by 223k (2.9%) at 1.15pm and 515k (3.0%) at 6pm on Channel 5, while 5*'s first look had 356k (1.9%) at 6.30pm.
