Emmerdale rises on Monday as 6.3m see Ross attack Pete

Emmerdale enjoyed another strong performance on Monday (October 26) as the darker evening helped to boost the soap's ratings, overnight figures show.

6.31m (32.0%) tuned in at 7pm on ITV and 115k (0.5%) on +1 as a vengeful Ross violently attacked his brother Pete. This was Emmerdale's best figure since August 10, when the show was exploring the aftermath of the helicopter crash.

Coronation Street was the most-watched programme of the day, claiming 7.08m (33.6%) at 7.30pm on ITV and 68k (0.3%) on +1 as Hope's health took another turn for the worse. 6.83m (31.6%) returned at 8.30pm and 150k (0.7%) on +1 as Tyrone and Fiz tried to support each other through the difficult time.

EastEnders attracted 6.1m (28.0%) at 8pm on BBC One as Phil returned home to the Square in a bad state. BBC Three's repeat added 276k (1.7%) at 10pm.

Hollyoaks appealed to 858k (4.4%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 with the continued aftermath of the Gloved Hand Killer reveal (+1: 76k / 0.4%), while E4's first look had 607k (3.1%) at 7pm (+1: 77k / 0.4%).

Doctors interested 1.43m (20.0%) at 1.45pm on BBC One with the ongoing fallout from Howard's death.

Neighbours aired to 702k (9.8%) at 1.45pm and 716k (4.7%) at 5.30pm on Channel 5 as Jimmy went missing.

Home and Away entertained 218k (3.0%) at 1.15pm and 567k (3.1%) at 6pm on Channel 5, while 5*'s first look had 376k (2.0%) at 6.30pm.
