Coronation Street's Alya and Jason story seen by 6.9m

Coronation Street topped the ratings on Friday (October 23) as Alya Nazir's guilt continued to rise, overnight figures show.

6.86m (35.3%) watched at 7.30pm on ITV and 110k (0.5%) on +1 as Jason threatened to tell Gary the truth about his one-night stand with Alya, while 6.36m (30.8%) returned at 8.30pm and 195k (1.0%) on +1 as an unsettled Alya had a shocking suggestion for Gary.

Emmerdale continued to see a boost from the Robert storyline, claiming 6.05m (32.8%) at 7pm on ITV and 151k (0.8%) on +1 as the schemer lived in fear following recent events.

EastEnders interested 5.71m (28.3%) at 8pm on BBC One as Pam was introduced to Les's alter ego Christine for the first time. BBC Three's repeat added 263k (1.5%) at 10pm.

Hollyoaks grabbed 733k (4.1%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Freddie Roscoe was revealed to still be alive (+1: 63k / 0.3%).

E4's first look Hollyoaks topped the multichannels with 617k (3.4%) at 7pm and 106k (0.5%) on +1, while the final episode of Hollyoaks Does Come Dine with Me had 371k (1.9%) at 7.30pm (+1: 46k / 0.2%).

Doctors gripped 1.43m (20.4%) at 1.45pm on BBC One with the aftermath of Howard's death.

Neighbours aired to 742k (10.5%) at 1.45pm and 640k (4.4%) at 5.30pm on Channel 5 as Daniel's latest good deed came back to haunt him.

Home and Away entertained 168k (2.4%) at 1.15pm and 420k (2.5%) at 6pm on Channel 5, while 5*'s first look had 380k (2.1%) at 6.30pm.
