Hollyoaks hits nine-month high on E4 with Roscoe stunt scene

The launch of Hollyoaks' 20th anniversary week brought in strong ratings for E4 on Monday (October 19), overnight figures show.

Hollyoaks was the top-rated multichannel programme of the day, bringing in 802k (4.1%) at 7pm on E4 (+1: 97k / 0.4%) as the show's first look screening saw the Gloved Hand Killer claim a seventh victim and the Roscoe brothers take centre stage with some epic white water stunt scenes. This was the show's best E4 figure since January 19.

Spinoff show Hollyoaks Does Come Dine with Me also proved a surprise multichannel hit, attracting 616k (3.0%) at 7.30pm on E4 as Jimmy McKenna hosted the first dinner party (+1: 94k / 0.4%).

Earlier, Hollyoaks' traditional 6.30pm airing had 981k (5.3%) on Channel 4 as gangster Ashley Davidson was killed by the Gloved Hand (+1: 34k / 0.2%).

Coronation Street was the most-watched show of the day, claiming 7.33m (35.3%) at 7.30pm on ITV and 72k (0.3%) on +1 as David turned nasty by threatening Sarah over Callum's death. 6.55m (30.5%) returned for the fallout at 8.30pm and 134k (0.6%) on +1 an hour later.

EastEnders interested 6.28m (29.1%) at 8pm on BBC One as Les was honest with Pam by revealing that he likes to wear women's clothes. BBC Three's repeat added 412k (2.5%) at 10pm.

Emmerdale grabbed 6.18m (31.8%) at 7pm on ITV and 81k (0.4%) on +1 as Cain was shocked by the extent of Aaron's struggle to cope behind bars.

Neighbours entertained 762k (11.9%) at 1.45pm and 673k (4.8%) at 5.30pm on Channel 5 as Steph worked her way back into Erinsborough.

Doctors aired to 1.27m (20.1%) at 1.45pm on BBC One as Emma and Howard clashed while making plans for their baby.

Home and Away managed 221k (3.4%) at 1.15pm and 565k (3.4%) at 6pm on Channel 5, while 5*'s first look had 432k (2.3%) at 6.30pm.
