Coronation Street returns with 6.7m for Hope storyline

Coronation Street topped Wednesday's soap ratings (October 14) with an important day for Fiz and Tyrone, overnight figures show.

Returning to screens for the first time since Friday, the show brought in 6.74m (34.2%) at 7.30pm on ITV and 223k (1.0%) on +1 as Fiz and Tyrone heard some good news as Hope was given a positive prognosis at her latest hospital appointment.

Emmerdale continued with 5.68m (31.0%) at 7pm on ITV and 164k (0.8%) on +1 as Lawrence and Chas took part in a police reconstruction of the night of Robert's shooting.

Neighbours saw an impressive rise at lunchtime, claiming 776k (12.5%) at 1.45pm on Channel 5 as Nate and Aaron's date plans went wrong. 687k (5.1%) caught the teatime screening at 5.30pm.

Hollyoaks attracted 713k (4.1%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Nancy jumped to conclusions over Harry and John Paul (+1: 35k / 0.2%), while E4's first look followed with 557k (3.0%) at 7pm (+1: 84k / 0.4%).

Doctors appealed to 1.38m (22.5%) at 1.45pm on BBC One as Ayesha faced the consequences following her honesty over Hayden.

Home and Away grabbed 283k (4.5%) at 1.15pm and 562k (3.5%) at 6pm on Channel 5, while 5*'s first look secured 363k (2.1%) at 6.30pm.
