Coronation Street ahead on Friday despite timeslot change

Coronation Street topped the ratings on Friday (October 9) despite being moved out of its regular timeslot, overnight figures show.

The Weatherfield soap managed 5.3m (29.3%) at the earlier time of 6.45pm on ITV as Kylie was forced to share the secret of Callum's final resting place with Sarah, adding 343k (1.7%) on +1.

Airing against the England vs. Estonia game, EastEnders managed 5.14m (24.6%) at 8pm on BBC One as Ian demanded answers from Kathy and Ben discovered that his mum is still alive. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 367k (2.2%) at 10pm.

Neighbours appealed to 696k (11.9%) at 1.45pm and 629k (4.7%) at 5.30pm on Channel 5 as Naomi discovered Paul's latest scheme.

Doctors continued with 1.25m (21.5%) at 1.45pm on BBC One as Daniel offered some harsh advice to Howard.

Hollyoaks mustered 655k (3.8%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Ben rushed to rescue Sienna from the fire (+1: 92k / 0.5%), while E4's first look had 444k (2.6%) at 7pm (+1: 44k / 0.2%).

Home and Away grabbed 181k (3.0%) at 1.15pm and 455k (2.9%) at 6pm on Channel 5, while 5*'s first look had 306k (1.8%) at 6.30pm.
