Coronation Street rises to 7.6m with Sally and Tim's wedding

Sally Webster's wedding joy brought in strong numbers for Coronation Street on Monday (October 5), overnight figures show.

Corrie was the most-watched programme of the day, claiming 7.39m (36.0%) at 7.30pm on ITV and 135k (0.6%) on +1 as Sally was left waiting for Tim at their wedding following her refusal to accept that he wouldn't turn up. The audience increased to 7.6m (35.7%) at 8.30pm and 164k (0.8%) on +1 as the popular couple got their happy ending when Tim arrived for the ceremony after all.

The 8.30pm episode was Corrie's best Monday performance since June 1.

EastEnders attracted 6.4m (30.4%) at 8pm on BBC One as Elaine's toyboy Jason cheated with Aunt Babe. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 321k (2.1%) at 10pm.

Emmerdale interested 6.12m (32.0%) at 7pm on ITV and 142k (0.7%) on +1 as baby Johnny's health became a cause for concern.

Hollyoaks grabbed 793k (4.5%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as the Gloved Hand Killer chose Dr S'Avage as a new target (+1: 49k / 0.2%). E4's first look followed with 570k (3.0%) at 7pm and 156k (0.7%) on +1.

Doctors continued with 1.56m (23.3%) at 1.45pm on BBC One as Zara set up a surprise meeting with Sid.

Neighbours entertained 693k (10.2%) at 1.45pm and 631k (4.6%) at 5.30pm on Channel 5 as Tyler made a move on Paige.

Home and Away mustered 194k (2.7%) at 1.15pm and 547k (3.4%) at 6pm on Channel 5, while 5*'s first look had 369k (2.1%) at 6.30pm.
