Emmerdale's Robert mystery intrigues 5.7m on Tuesday

Emmerdale topped Tuesday's ratings (September 29) with the latest developments in the 'Who Shot Robert?' investigation, overnight figures show.

The latest drama from the Dales averaged 5.69m (28.9%) from 7pm on ITV and 296k (1.5%) on +1 as police attention in the Robert case turned to Chrissie after Andy quickly cleared his name.

EastEnders held up better in its latest clash with Emmerdale, bringing in 4.9m (23.2%) at 7.30pm on BBC One with the aftermath of Max's dramatic escape from court. A huge 940k (5.9%) also caught up with BBC Three's repeat screening at 10pm.

During the 30-minute clash period itself from 7.30pm, Emmerdale had 5.48m and a 26.1% share.

Holby City continued with 4.48m (22.2%) at 8pm on BBC One as the arrival of Cara's husband landed her in a tricky situation.

Hollyoaks remained steady with 788k (4.6%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Dr S'Avage confirmed that Diane had been poisoned (+1: 31k / 0.1%), while E4's first look followed with 550k (3.0%) at 7pm (+1: 77k / 0.4%).

Neighbours appealed to 688k (12.1%) at 1.45pm and 648k (5.1%) at 5.30pm on Channel 5 as Paul discovered that Naomi had betrayed him with Josh.

Doctors continued with 1.27m (22.6%) at 1.45pm on BBC One as Mrs Tembe's happiness project received a mixed reception at The Mill.

Home and Away aired to 213k (3.6%) at 1.15pm and 513k (3.3%) at 6pm on Channel 5, while 5*'s first look had 339k (2.0%) at 6.30pm.
