EastEnders stayed below the 5 million mark on Friday (September 18) as it went up against the Rugby World Cup, overnight figures show.The Walford soap claimed 4.68m (21.1%) at 8pm on BBC One as Ronnie and Roxy were revealed to have secretly teamed up against Charlie, losing out against ITV's coverage of the England vs. Fiji match which had 8.63m (39.0%) across the 30-minute clash period.
This was the third EastEnders episode this week to fall below the 5 million mark, as the show has also faced other tough competition with two Emmerdale clashes. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 420k (2.3%) at 10pm.
Hollyoaks brought in 733k (4.6%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Stephanie Davis made an abrupt departure from her role as Sinead (+1: 77k / 0.4%), while the fallout on E4's first look topped the multichannels with 567k (3.3%) at 7pm (+1: 57k / 0.3%).
