Emmerdale brings in 5.4m with Ross Barton's murder plan

Emmerdale topped the ratings on Tuesday (September 15) with its latest hour-long episode, overnight figures show.

The extended airing averaged 5.41m (28.4%) from 7pm on ITV and 239k (1.2%) on +1 as Ross contemplated killing his brother Pete in dark scenes.

EastEnders once again dipped due to the clash with Emmerdale and the rival show's head-start, bringing in 4.66m (22.7%) at 7.30pm on BBC One as Lauren's waters broke following a stressful day back on the Square.

During the 30-minute clash period itself from 7.30pm, Emmerdale had 5.25m (25.7%). BBC Three's EastEnders repeat screening later saw a boost with 704k (4.3%) catching up at 10pm.

Holby City attracted 4.14m (20.7%) at 8pm on BBC One as Arthur struggled in the aftermath of the explosion.

Hollyoaks dipped to 649k (4.0%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 (+1: 72k / 0.4%) as Tony questioned Harry over his secret email, but E4's first look remained relatively steady with 548k (3.1%) at 7pm and 114k (0.6%) on +1.

Neighbours claimed 764k (12.1%) at 1.45pm and 597k (4.6%) at 5.30pm on Channel 5 as Terese discovered Brad and Lauren's betrayal in a special three-hander episode.

Doctors aired to 1.34m (21.4%) at 1.45pm on BBC One as Mrs Tembe found herself caught up in a dispute between members of the Women's Institute and a reverend.

Home and Away continued with 223k (3.2%) at 1.15pm and 490k (3.3%) at 6pm on Channel 5, while 5*'s first look had 425k (2.6%) at 6.30pm.
