Emmerdale and EastEnders suffer in Thursday scheduling clash

Emmerdale and EastEnders were both dented by their latest scheduling clash on Thursday evening (September 10), overnight figures show.

Emmerdale's hour-long episode pulled in 5.14m (28.6%) at 7pm on ITV and 243k (1.3%) on +1 as Alicia said her goodbyes in emotional scenes and Vanessa went into premature labour after being knocked over at the factory.

EastEnders once again lost out due to the scheduling clash and the rival show's head-start, dipping to 4.69m (24.4%) at 7.30pm on BBC One as Jane told Phil the truth about Lucy's murder in an explosive showdown.

During the 30-minute clash period itself, Emmerdale suffered a dip of its own as it was down to 4.97m (25.9%). BBC Three's EastEnders repeat screening had 561k (3.4%) at 10pm.

Coronation Street was the most-watched show of the day, claiming 6.51m (33.0%) at 8pm on ITV and 368k (1.9%) on +1 as Tracy faced police questioning over the fire in another bonus Thursday episode.

Hollyoaks appealed to 684k (4.6%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as the Trevor and Ashley drama continued (+1: 44k / 0.2%), while E4's first look secured 547k (3.3%) at 7pm and 119k (0.6%) on +1.

Neighbours put in another strong showing at lunchtime as Kyle's shocking news about Georgia was seen by 713k (12.1%) at 1.45pm on Channel 5. 543k (4.7%) caught the teatime screening at 5.30pm.

Doctors' hour-long special for its 3,000th episode was enjoyed by 1.19m (21.7%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.

Home and Away entertained 203k (3.5%) at 1.15pm and 437k (3.2%) at 6pm on Channel 5, while 5*'s first look followed with 360k (2.4%) at 6.30pm.
