Coronation Street topped Wednesday's soap ratings (September 9) with Tracy Barlow's shock arrest, overnight figures show.

6.68m (34.8%) watched at 7.30pm on ITV and 274k (1.2%) on +1 as police arrived at The Rovers to haul Tracy in for questioning over the fire that killed Kal and Maddie.

Emmerdale bounced back from Tuesday's low figure, rising up 1 million to 5.59m (32.7%) at 7pm on ITV and 174k (0.8%) on +1 as Bob took steps to deal with the Ged problem once and for all.

Hollyoaks brought in 768k (4.8%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 (+1: 82k / 0.4%) as Ashley and Trevor plotted against Patrick, while E4's first look managed 471k (2.7%) at 7pm and 163k (0.8%) on +1.

Neighbours rose to its best lunchtime figure of the year so far, claiming 799k (13.2%) at 1.45pm on Channel 5 as Aaron had a lucky escape after making an enemy on a night out. 559k (4.5%) tuned in for the teatime screening at 5.30pm.

Doctors appealed to 1.29m (21.6%) at 1.45pm on BBC One with a standalone story for Mrs Tembe and a nursing home resident.

Home and Away's fire fallout interested 207k (3.4%) at 1.15pm and 534k (3.5%) at 6pm on Channel 5, while 5*'s first look secured 302k (1.9%) at 6.30pm.
