Emmerdale loses 1.1m viewers in earlier slot on Tuesday

Emmerdale was hurt by ITV scheduling on Tuesday evening (September 8), shedding 1 million viewers in an earlier timeslot.

4.58m (26.0%) tuned in at the earlier time of 6.45pm on ITV and 184k (0.9%) on +1 as Bob, Brenda and Harriet remained in fear of Ged.

Emmerdale was moved from its usual 7pm slot due to ITV's coverage of the England vs. Switzerland game, but the change led to the show losing 1.1m viewers compared to the previous evening.

EastEnders was the most-watched show of the day despite airing against the football, attracting 5.84m (29.0%) at 7.30pm on BBC One as Phil grew suspicious over Lucy's murder. BBC Three's repeat secured 441k (2.8%) at 10pm.

Holby City managed 4.03m (19.3%) at 8pm on BBC One against the match as an explosion rocked AAU.

Hollyoaks interested 722k (4.3%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 with the fallout from Ashley's appearance at The Loft (+1: 42k / 0.2%), while E4's first look followed with 602k (3.5%) at 7pm (+1: 84k / 0.4%).

Neighbours aired to 697k (10.8%) at 1.45pm and 687k (5.4%) at 5.30pm on Channel 5 as Naomi worried about Toadie's plans to sue.

Doctors appealed to 1.21m (19.1%) at 1.45pm on BBC One as Driver confronted Rob over his deception.

Home and Away's fire plot continued with 297k (4.5%) at 1.15pm and 475k (3.2%) at 6pm on Channel 5, while 5*'s first look had 314k (1.9%) at 6.30pm.
