EastEnders rises to six-week high with Dot's return

EastEnders rose to its best rating in six weeks on Monday (September 7) with Dot Branning's return to Albert Square, overnight figures show.

6.58m (31.2%) tuned in at 8pm on BBC One as Dot's release from prison made a big impact on Ian, the highest-rated episode since July 27. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 332k (2.0%) at 10pm.

Coronation Street was the most-watched show of the day, attracting 6.76m (34.6%) at 7.30pm on ITV and 114k (0.5%) on +1 as Carla's guilt over the fire escalated. The audience increased to 6.91m (32.4%) at 8.30pm as Tracy finally confessed her guilt to Carla (+1: 93k / 0.4%).

Emmerdale brought in 5.68m (32.1%) at 7pm on ITV and 147k (0.7%) on +1 as Bob faced his big day in court.

Hollyoaks appealed to 696k (4.4%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 and 100k (0.5%) on +1 as Jason suffered another scare, while E4's first look topped the multichannels with 584k (3.3%) at 7pm (+1: 83k / 0.4%).

Neighbours interested 651k (11.1%) at 1.45pm and 634k (5.1%) at 5.30pm on Channel 5 as Terese finally admitted that she has a drinking problem.

Doctors continued with 1.2m (20.8%) at 1.45pm on BBC One as Karen struggled to cope with the ongoing pressure facing her and Rob.

Home and Away's fire drama entertained 209k (3.6%) at 1.15pm and 492k (3.3%) at 6pm on Channel 5, while 5*'s first look had 305k (1.9%) at 6.30pm.
