Bethany's confession brings in 6.7m for Coronation Street

Coronation Street topped Wednesday's soap ratings (August 26) with Bethany's shock confession, overnight figures show.

6.69m (34.6%) tuned in at 7.30pm on ITV and 254k (1.1%) on +1 as Bethany infuriated her family by revealing that she had given Callum an alibi for Jason's attack.

Emmerdale bounced back from Tuesday's dip, attracting 5.91m (33.5%) at 7pm on ITV and 207k (1.0%) on +1 with the aftermath of Ross's return from the dead.

Hollyoaks remained steady on Channel 4 as Dylan's death scenes brought in 846k (5.3%) at 6.30pm (+1: 55k / 0.3%), while E4's first look followed with 488k (2.8%) at 7pm and 183k (0.8%) on +1.

Neighbours interested 726k (9.3%) at 1.45pm and 617k (5.0%) at 5.30pm on Channel 5 as Naomi realised she could be liable for Toadie's accident.

Doctors gripped 1.28m (16.5%) at 1.45pm on BBC One as Rob and Jimmi both found themselves under suspicion following Weston's escape.

Home and Away appealed to 306k (4.0%) at 1.15pm and 479k (3.3%) at 6pm on Channel 5, while 5*'s first look followed with 420k (2.6%) at 6.30pm.
