Coronation Street topped the ratings on Monday (August 24) with Callum Logan's latest shocking move, overnight figures show.

6.98m (35.2%) tuned in at 7.30pm on ITV and 220k (1.0%) on +1 as Callum secretly drugged Sarah in a plan to scare Bethany into following his orders, while 6.95m (31.0%) returned at 8.30pm and 278k (1.3%) on +1 as Bethany gave the bad boy a false alibi for Jason's attack.

EastEnders attracted 6.13m (28.4%) at 8pm on BBC One as Phil confided in Ronnie about Kathy's return from the dead. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 370k (2.1%) at 10pm.

Emmerdale interested 5.99m (32.7%) at 7pm on ITV and 192k (0.9%) on +1 as Pete confessed his guilt to Debbie, unaware that the body found wasn't Ross.

Hollyoaks was seen by 861k (5.0%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Esther regained consciousness and Kim was revealed as Dylan's mystery texting 'friend' (+1: 56k / 0.3%), while E4's first look followed with 498k (2.7%) at 7pm (+1: 87k / 0.4%).

Doctors aired to 1.45m (18.0%) at 1.45pm on BBC One as the investigation into Treehouse took another sinister turn.

Neighbours appealed to 717k (8.8%) at 1.45pm and 658k (5.2%) at 5.30pm on Channel 5 as Toadie suffered a shock accident.

Home and Away mustered 288k (3.5%) at 1.15pm and 520k (3.3%) at 6pm on Channel 5, while 5*'s first look had 345k (2.0%) at 6.30pm.
