Coronation Street claims 6.7 million viewers on Friday

Coronation Street was the most-watched programme on Friday (July 24), while Aaron and Robert's storyline continued to pay off for Emmerdale, overnight figures show.

Corrie brought in 6.71m (33.6%) at 7.30pm on ITV and 105k (0.5%) on +1 as Tracy was shocked to discover that Robert has a wife. Up against the Celebrity MasterChef final, 6.18m (28.6%) returned for the fallout at 8.30pm and 175k (0.8%) on +1.

EastEnders claimed 5.74m (28.8%) at 8pm on BBC One as Max was arrested for Lucy's murder following Abi's statement against him. BBC Three's repeat secured 333k (2.0%) at 10pm.

Emmerdale also grabbed 5.74m (30.7%) at 7pm on ITV and 152k (0.8%) on +1 as Chrissie vengefully exposed Aaron and Robert's affair at the pub. This was the show's best Friday rating since February 27 and a year-on-year rise of 1.26m compared with the equivalent episode from 2014.

Doctors entertained 1.33m (16.7%) at 1.45pm on BBC One as Daniel and Zara turned a corner while out for dinner together.

Hollyoaks interested 643k (3.8%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Tegan jeopardised her own kidnap plan by sending Diane a picture of Rose (+1: 34k / 0.2%). E4's first look followed with 514k (2.7%) at 7pm and 117k (0.6%) on +1.

Neighbours appealed to 565k (7.1%) at 1.45pm and 618k (4.5%) at 5.30pm on Channel 5 with Paige's dilemma over whether to stay in Erinsborough.

Home and Away mustered 170k (2.1%) at 1.15pm and 402k (2.6%) at 6pm on Channel 5, while 5*'s first look was seen by 321k (1.9%) at 6.30pm.
