Coronation Street was back ahead in the soap ratings on Friday evening (July 17), overnight figures show.The Weatherfield drama was the most-watched programme of the day, bringing in 6.18m (34.6%) at 7.30pm on ITV and 107k (0.6%) on +1 as Carla argued with Roy after a disastrous day gambling. 6.06m (31.3%) returned at 8.30pm and 216k (1.2%) on +1 for the fallout from Carla's out-of-control behaviour.
EastEnders attracted 5.59m (31.0%) at 8pm on BBC One as Ben Mitchell was wrongly arrested for Lucy Beale's murder. BBC Three's repeat screening added 405k (2.4%) at 10pm.
Emmerdale interested 5.27m (31.8%) at 7pm on ITV and 118k (0.7%) on +1 as Debbie confronted Ross over his involvement in the robbery.
Hollyoaks bagged its best Friday rating since April 17 as Esther's labour was seen by 699k (4.6%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 and 127k (0.7%) on +1. E4's first look followed with 425k (2.6%) at 7pm and 140k (0.8%) on +1.
Neighbours aired to 586k (8.6%) at 1.45pm and 511k (4.2%) at 5.30pm on Channel 5 as Kyle was fired by Paul.
Home and Away managed 162k (2.3%) at 1.15pm and 433k (3.1%) at 6pm on Channel 5, while 5*'s first look had 281k (1.8%) at 6.30pm.
