EastEnders was Tuesday's most-watched programme (July 14) with the beginning of a new chapter in the Lucy Beale storyline, overnight figures show.

6.36m (34.4%) tuned in at 7.30pm on BBC One as the Beales were shocked to learn that a new witness had come forward with information about Lucy's death. BBC Three's repeat screening added 425k (2.5%) at 10pm.

Emmerdale attracted 5.27m (30.4%) at 7pm on ITV and 197k (1.1%) on +1 as Brenda learned of Bob's betrayal.

Holby City claimed 4.11m (21.7%) at 8pm on BBC One as Fletch faced a moral dilemma.

Hollyoaks interested 734k (4.6%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 with the aftermath of Maxine's discovery about Patrick. E4's first look followed with 537k (3.1%) at 7pm and 123k (0.7%) on +1.

Neighbours appealed to 553k (9.6%) at 1.45pm and 688k (5.6%) at 5.30pm on Channel 5 with the arrival of Paige's adoptive mother Mary.

Home and Away mustered 196k (3.0%) at 1.15pm and 483k (3.3%) at 6pm on Channel 5, while 5*'s first look had 266k (1.7%) at 6.30pm.
