Coronation Street stayed above the 7 million mark on Wednesday evening (March 25) with Steve's proposal, overnight figures show.
Corrie was the top-rated programme of the day, claiming 7.06m (35.4%) at 7.30pm on ITV and 180k (0.8%) on +1 as Michelle agreed to marry Steve after he made the spontaneous decision to pop the question.
Emmerdale brought in 5.97m (32.8%) at 7pm on ITV and 132k (0.7%) on +1 as Paddy and Rhona forgave Pearl and convinced her to stay in the village.
Hollyoaks attracted 805k (4.6%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Tom proposed to Peri and revealed their baby secret to all, while the repercussions on E4's first look were seen by 633k (3.5%) at 7pm and 136k (0.7%) an hour later.
Neighbours entertained 678k (10.7%) at 1.45pm and 818k (6.1%) at 5.30pm on Channel 5 as Janelle Timmins made a surprise return to Erinsborough.
Home and Away continued with 209k (3.2%) at 1.15pm and 567k (3.6%) at 6pm on Channel 5, while 5*'s first look had 349k (2.0%) at 6.30pm.
Elsewhere, Doctors mustered 1.34m (21.2%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
