Corrie, EastEnders tie at 7.2m mark in Friday's soap ratings

Coronation Street and EastEnders were neck-and-neck in Friday's soap ratings (February 27), overnight figures show.

Corrie was narrowly ahead on first-run showings, bringing in 7.21m (34.8%) at 7.30pm on ITV as Liz discovered that Tony was up to no good. 6.93m (31.9%) returned at 8.30pm and 109k (0.5%) on +1 as Liz tried to put Tracy in her place.

EastEnders did beat the second Corrie and was up over 1 million on Thursday's low figure, claiming 7.19m (33.1%) at 8pm on BBC One as Sharon decided that it might be time to find her father. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 240k (1.6%) at 10.30pm.

Emmerdale was also up almost 1 million from Thursday, rising to 6.26m (32.4%) at 7pm on ITV and 123k (0.6%) on +1 as Lachlan lied to the police when questioned over Alicia's report of sexual assault.

Hollyoaks attracted 712k (4.0%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Nico continued to cover for Peri by pretending to be pregnant. E4's first look followed with 501k (2.6%) at 7pm and 177k (0.8%) on +1.

Neighbours interested 649k (10.3%) at 1.45pm and 847k (5.8%) at 5.30pm on Channel 5 as Paige put herself in danger while trying to make amends with her family.

Home and Away's dramatic bus crash grabbed 266k (4.2%) at 1.15pm and 695k (4.2%) at 6pm on Channel 5, while 5*'s first look was boosted to its highest figure since March 2014 with 533k (3.0%) at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, Doctors was seen by 1.24m (19.8%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
