Coronation Street tops Monday ratings with Linda's arrival

Coronation Street was the most-watched soap on Monday evening (February 9) with the arrival of Linda Armstrong, overnight figures show.

Corrie was the top-rated programme of the day, bringing in 7.86m (36.0%) at 7.30pm on ITV as Owen was shocked to find his ex-wife on the doorstep. 7.62m (32.1%) returned at 8.30pm and 177k (0.8%) on +1 to see Owen left fearful following Linda's unexpected appearance.

EastEnders also performed well, attracting 7.54m (32.3%) at 8pm on BBC One as Lauren struggled to cope following her mysterious discovery about Lucy. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 379k (3.0%) at 10.30pm.

Emmerdale interested 6.89m (33.2%) at 7pm on ITV and 164k (0.7%) on +1 with the aftermath of Katie's death, the show's highest rating since October 20.

Waterloo Road continued with 596k (2.5%) at 8.30pm on BBC Three as Dale's problems escalated, while BBC One's repeat screening added 918k (9.7%) at 10.45pm.

Hollyoaks entertained 976k (5.0%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 and 115k (0.5%) on +1 as Darren was revealed to be plotting against Patrick, while E4's first look topped the day's multichannel ratings with 634k (3.1%) at 7pm and 120k (0.5%) on +1.

Neighbours appealed to 673k (9.7%) at 1.45pm and 810k (5.1%) at 5.30pm on Channel 5 as Josh and Amber played detective.

Home and Away managed 165k (2.3%) at 1.15pm and 576k (3.2%) at 6pm on Channel 5, while 5*'s first look had 347k (1.8%) at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, Doctors was seen by 1.65m (23.9%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
