Coronation Street crash aftermath continues with 8 million

Coronation Street topped the 8 million mark again on Friday evening (January 23) with the continued fallout from the mini-bus crash, overnight figures show.

Corrie was the most-watched programme of the day, bringing in 8.04m (36.9%) at 7.30pm on ITV and 147k (0.6%) on +1 as Michelle dumped Hamish now that she knows the truth about Steve's recent troubles.

The evening's second Corrie episode - which saw Sinead's loved ones anxiously wait for news about her operation - dipped against BBC One's coverage of the Cambridge United vs. Manchester United game, managing 7.21m (30.3%) at 8.30pm and 257k (1.1%) on +1.

Emmerdale attracted 6.4m (31.6%) at 7pm on ITV and 133k (0.6%) on +1 as Katie continued to warn Chrissie about Robert and Megan kidnapped Fake Archie.

Hollyoaks interested 922k (4.8%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as another clue was discovered in the Mercedes mystery, while E4's first look followed with 612k (3.0%) at 7pm and 163k (0.7%) on +1.

Neighbours appealed to 672k (9.1%) at 1.45pm and 771k (4.8%) at 5.30pm on Channel 5 as Matt tried to get Lauren on his side over the house situation.

Home and Away entertained 218k (3.0%) at 1.15pm and 646k (3.6%) at 6pm on Channel 5, while 5*'s first look secured 386k (2.0%) at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, Doctors continued with 1.64m (22.1%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
