Kirk and Beth's wedding seen by 7.6m on Coronation Street

Coronation Street topped Friday's soap ratings (January 9) with Kirk and Beth's wedding episodes, overnight figures show.

Corrie was the most-watched show of the day, bringing in 7.58m (34.7%) at 7.30pm on ITV and 145k (0.6%) on +1 as Kirk and Beth tied the knot despite last-minute fears over whether Kirk would make it on time. 7.4m (31.6%) returned at 8.30pm and 131k (0.6%) on +1 as the happy couple's celebrations continued at The Rovers.

EastEnders attracted 7.04m (31.1%) at 8pm on BBC One as Stacey uncovered the reasons behind Kat's strange behaviour and Max conned Ben into signing over The Arches. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 300k (1.8%) at 10.30pm.

Emmerdale interested 6.48m (31.2%) at 7pm on ITV and 118k (0.5%) on +1 as Cain's ongoing health problems came to a head.

Hollyoaks managed 760k (3.8%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 and 102k (0.5%) on +1 as Porsche was rescued following her frightening experience in the cold store, while E4's first look topped the day's multichannel ratings with 704k (3.4%) at 7pm and 128k (0.6%) on +1.

Neighbours entertained 666k (7.7%) at 1.45pm and 869k (5.0%) at 5.30pm on Channel 5 as Gary tried to make amends.

Home and Away mustered 254k (3.0%) at 1.15pm and 496k (2.6%) at 6pm on Channel 5, while 5*'s first look had 346k (1.7%) at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, Doctors continued with 1.53m (17.7%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
